Privacy

Scribeo is designed to keep your data on your Mac. No account, no tracking.

Last updated: July 2026

In short: your notes live on your computer; AI keys are encrypted on the Mac; the notes you share are end-to-end encrypted. If you turn on sync, your notes pass through your own iCloud — never through our servers. We don't collect your data and can't read your notes.

What stays on your Mac

Sync between your Macs (iCloud)

From version 1.33 Scribeo can keep your notes in step across several Macs of yours. It is off by default: until you turn it on in Settings → Sync, none of what follows happens and your data doesn't leave your computer.

What is sent to the AI

Only text is sent to the AI, never the audio. The text that leaves your Mac is the text of the meeting you are working on: the transcript, your own notes and — when they help make sense of what is being discussed — the text extracted from the documents you attached to the note (PDFs and text files), the project summary and the notes of related previous calls. This is what lets Scribeo prepare a meeting and write notes that understand the references made during the call. Attached files are not uploaded as files: their text is read from them. Depending on how you use Scribeo:

Shared notes

When you create a share link, the note is encrypted on your Mac before being uploaded. Our server receives and shows only encrypted text: the decryption key lives solely in the link (in the part after the #) and never reaches the server. This means not even we, nor whoever hosts the web space, can read the content. When you revoke sharing, the link stops showing the note.
